關(guān)注與全球變化、水資源、地表形變和災害等相關(guān)的自然和人類(lèi)活動(dòng)引起的地表過(guò)程,重點(diǎn)研究水文大地測量、負荷響應理論、冰川凍土變化。聯(lián)合衛星測高、GNSS和衛星重力等,研究多相態(tài)水體(冰川、凍土、積雪、水文)變化,發(fā)展粘彈性地球負荷模擬的理論和方法,建立彈性負荷響應和冰川均衡調整(GIA)模型,研究水文信號的分離與提取的理論與方法,研究橫向非均勻的地慢粘滯度模型。服務(wù)全球變化、水資源、環(huán)境災害問(wèn)題和地球動(dòng)力學(xué)等領(lǐng)域。二十年來(lái)潛心研究地球負荷動(dòng)力學(xué),其冰川均衡調整(GIA)研究填補了國內的空白,且達到國際先進(jìn)水平。通過(guò)GIA研究可探索地幔流變性、估計GIA對海平面、陸地水儲量和極地冰雪長(cháng)期變化監測的影響,GIA模型主要包含地幔黏滯度和多種GIA響應預測,是與地幔動(dòng)力學(xué)和全球變化關(guān)系密切的重大科學(xué)問(wèn)題。代表性成果1-被推薦人在Earth and Planetary Science Letters等高端國際期刊發(fā)表了三維GIA模擬理論、算法和模型系列結果(L20,RF3S20,RF3L20),評審專(zhuān)家認為該論文是對當前快速發(fā)展的三維地球模型GIA研究領(lǐng)域的重要貢獻)。國外研究(Guo et al., 2012, Journal of Geodynamics)對現有大量GIA模型進(jìn)行沃爾準則檢驗,發(fā)現其模型的理論合理性位居前列。美國國家研究院專(zhuān)題報告《Sea-Level Rise for the Coasts of California, Oregon, and Washington: Past, Present, and Future》(2012,The National Academies Press,USA)大量引用其GIA模型,揭示了加利福利亞、俄勒岡和華盛頓海平面上升的歷史、現狀和預測了未來(lái)的變化,評估了估計的不確定性。代表性成果2-他在Nature Geoscience發(fā)表了題為“GRACE衛星重力數據揭示北美和斯堪的納維亞半島南部水儲量增加”論文,提出了GRACE聯(lián)合GPS觀(guān)測網(wǎng)絡(luò )分離古冰蓋地區水文和GIA信號的理論途徑,首次精準給出北美北歐的分離結果,揭示了1999-2005年加拿大草原發(fā)生大干旱后的水儲量恢復過(guò)程,解決了近十年來(lái)在GRACE發(fā)射后,在北美和北歐地區的較強GIA背景下,水儲量變化信號不能有效提取的巨大困難。因此,該論文被選為該雜志的研究亮點(diǎn),并入選中科院《2013科學(xué)發(fā)展報告》第四章 “2012年中國科學(xué)家具有影響力的部分工作”。相關(guān)評審專(zhuān)家認為,所給出的途徑和結果有利于了解北美北歐當前知之甚少的區域水儲量變化趨勢,顯示了GRACE衛星重力探測地球系統質(zhì)量變化與遷移的巨大能力。該項研究是對了解地球系統質(zhì)量變化和遷移,特別是對于全球水循環(huán)及其與大氣圈、水圈和海洋的交換過(guò)程,具有重要創(chuàng )新性貢獻,也對水資源利用和海平面上升等研究具有重要意義。
